PBO Frequently Asked Questions

  • I am low income, but not homeless. Can you help me?

    • Unfortunately, no. Pro-Bone-O is only able to offer services to pets of people who are currently unhoused. Housing status is confirmed for each client at every clinic. Our Resources page lists lower-cost veterinary clinics and possible sources for financial aid for veterinary care.

  • My pet is very sick and needs urgent care. Can you help me?

    • Unfortunately, no. Pro-Bone-O is only able to offer care during our clinics held twice a month. We are unable to offer care or give medical advice between clinics. You need to take your pet to a veterinary clinic or emergency  hospital. Pro-Bone-O cannot provide funds for this care. See our Resources page.

  •  When and where are the clinics?

  • My pet needs tests or treatment like x-rays, blood tests, or surgery. Can you help me financially?

    • Unfortunately, no. Pro-Bone-O is unable to provide financial assistance for tests or treatment other than what we can do with our limited resources during clinics. Check our Resources page for possible sources of financial aid.

  •  I need advice on my pet’s condition, or a prescription right now. Can you help?

    • Unfortunately, no. Pro-Bone-O cannot offer medical advice or send prescriptions between clinics.

  • My pet needs to be spayed or neutered. How can I get that done?

    •  Pro-Bone-O can help with this. We offer vouchers to local clinics for these surgeries. First you must be eligible for our services and have your pet examined at one of our clinics. Then, we will issue you a voucher.

  • I don’t want to get my pet spayed or neutered. Can my pet still receive care?

    • No. Since one of Pro-Bone-O’s missions is reducing pet overpopulation, all patients must be spayed or neutered within three months of the first visit.  If you do not want your pet spayed or neutered, or don’t follow through with surgery after we issue a voucher, we will no longer offer our services.

  • I need to get a copy of my pet’s records (also, veterinary clinics needing records).  How do I do that?

    • Send us a message with the pet’s information. List any other possible owner’s name in case the record is filed under that name. We will email a copy of the record within 5 business days.

  •  I would like to donate medications/ pet food/ supplies. How do I do this?

    • We love donations! Pet food and supplies can be dropped off at the Eugene Mission’s Donations Drop-Off anytime during regular business hours. If you have medications, please message us with the medication names, since we are unable to use all medications. You can also drop off donations during our clinics. Check with the gate attendant when you arrive. Veterinary clinics can message us to arrange for pickup of large donations.

  • My pet is scheduled for a spay or neuter at a local clinic, but I won’t be able to bring my pet that day. What should I do?

    • If you cannot bring your pet that day, you MUST call the clinic before the scheduled surgery to reschedule. If you don’t show up and haven’t called, you may not be able to reschedule, which could lead to termination of Pro-Bone-O services.
